CHRISTMAS PARADE 2007
Spectators turn out for largest parade

Largest was the word used most often among spectators Sunday at the 34th annual Tarboro Christmas Parade. Many folks were saying it
was the largest parade they could remember with 102 entries, up from 80 last year. And the sun-splashed crowd of onlookers that lined
Main Street seemed larger than in past years, due in some part to the comfortable 70-degree weather.

The Tarboro-Edgecombe Chamber of Commerce announced parade float winners were Abrams Bar-B-Q, overall winner, for the float
depicting Santa's workshop; Cub Scout Pack 49, first place, for its camping float complete with real pine trees; and Gospel Fellowship
Church, second, for its float titled "Keep Your Eyes Upon Jesus." The overall winner in the band competition was the North Edgecombe High
School Marching Warriors.

On Saturday, 42 children came downtown to have their picture taken with Santa Claus, which raised $210 for The Salvation Army. And Mary
Johnson was the winner of the drawing for the Discovering Downtown Tarboro basket of more than $400 worth of items from downtown
merchants.
